Introduction
Like most students, school has become a forefront in my life. As a senior at Coventry High School, my academics have presented varying challenges in the form of AP classes, ECE courses, and independent studies. Overall, my persistence and dedication over the past four years has culminated in being designated valedictorian; however, my life is far from confined to the walls of a classroom. When I am not working diligently on my studies, I can often be found out on the track. While I am a three year cross country athlete, my passion truly comes from indoor and outdoor track and field. I am a four year athlete, frequent NCCC medalist, and captain of the team. Coupling my academics and athletics, I have been deemed the CIAC Scholar Athlete for the year of 2018.
In addition, I am an Emergency Medical Technician at the local Coventry Fire Department in which I actively volunteer as a part of the ambulance crew in town. I have furthered my training outside of the medical field in becoming a junior firefighter where I annually attend the Connecticut Fire Academy and other training endeavors. My desire to pursue a career that helps other people is showcased in my dedication to the department. However, my time is also taken up by more relaxed activities. For instance, I am a bassist in the high school jazz band, and music becomes a part of my daily life in a variety of string instruments. Yet, if I have any extra time in addition to these activities, I find myself volunteering for local groups such as the high school Albert Schweitzer club or the Coventry Democratic team.
As I continue to pursue a career along the lines of humanitarian, international aid, I make sure to keep myself busy with these many endeavors, hopefully helping my community along the way. While my sparse and random instances of free time are filled with adventures such as concerts, skiing, road trips, and more, the activities I have discussed are my consistent passions that do well to define me as both a student, and a person.
